Victoria University awards inaugural David Hay Scholarship

2012 David Hay Scholars: Ann Impala (inaugural recipient), Christine Hay (wife of the late David Hay), Leanne Bradford (inaugural recipient), and Dr Hermione Parsons (Director and Associate Professor, Institute for Supply Chain and Logistics, Victoria University).

Ann Impala and Leanne Bradford have won the inaugural David Hay Scholarship for the supply chain, transport and logistics industry.

Thanks to Victoria University and the David Hay Education Endowment, the recipients will receive financial support to undertake a Diploma in Logistics. Through this formal qualification, the recipients will gain the skills and knowledge to advance their career in fields such as purchasing, materials management, inventory management, operations management, warehousing, distribution, transport, and customer service.

The David Hay Education Endowment was established in 2011 in honour of the late David Hay. David started in the transport industry as a truck driver, but went to night school (often doing his homework by torchlight in his truck) and worked his way up to become one of Australia’s most well-respected industry leaders. The David Hay Scholarship recognises David’s outstanding 50-year industry contribution and creates opportunities for those who are passionate about starting or advancing a career in the supply chain and logistics industry. David believed that often to achieve both educational and career dreams, students sometimes need a helping hand.

Wife of the late David Hay Christine Hay said: “I hope that the financial support of the David Hay Endowment Scholarship will assist a motivated and dedicated person fulfil a potential that may otherwise have remained dormant.”
