Motorola Delivers New Series of Mobile Computers for Asia-Pacific Enterprises

Motorola delivers new series of mobile computers for Asia-Pacific enterprises

Motorola's Enterprise Mobility Business has unveiled the FR series of handheld computers, designed specifically for enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region.

The FR68 Enterprise Digital Assistant (EDA) and the FR6000 rugged handheld computer are only available in Asia-Pacific markets, and offer full-function 3.5G HSDPA/WAN network capabilities, simultaneous voice and data connectivity, and GPS navigation. The FR series of devices come in a highly compact form factor and operate in a range of local languages. This flexible design aims to increase productivity in small, medium or large enterprises across a broad range of verticals including retail, healthcare, logistics, transportation, utilities, manufacturing and public safety.

Paul Blinkhorn, Australia Country Manager, and Vice President, Enterprise Mobility, Motorola Australia and New Zealand and Asia-Pacific Channels, said,  "This is a unique step for Motorola as a global company, and a demonstration of our commitment to our local customers. Motorola's Asia Pacific team has developed the FR series based on local customer insights. Feedback on form factor, weight, ergonomics, scanning capability, 3.5G and WiFi connectivity, ruggedness and a compact flash for docking companion devices have been incorporated into the FR series' design.

Moto

"The new FR converged series gives a wide range of verticals the ability to achieve higher levels of resource optimisation and operational efficiency, and allow mobile workforces to access business critical data on the go."

Additional functionalities include 1D laser scanner, plus added connectivity through wireless LAN (WLAN), Bluetooth® and IrDA. The Marvell XScale PXA312 624MHz processor and Microsoft® Windows® Mobile 6.1 operating system ensures simple integration with existing enterprise infrastructure, enhanced security features, a flexible development platform and improved mobile messaging - all in a single device. The FR68 also offers high-resolution 3.2 mega pixel auto-focus colour camera, and optical character recognition (OCR) functionality.

Designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use, the new FR series can withstand three foot drops to concrete and is sealed to protect from elements such as sand, dust and water.

Motorola

The combination of real-time local and wide-area wireless communications coupled with advanced data capture capabilities and an industry-standard operating system enables easy implementation of business-essential applications including enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM).

To help customers maintain peak performance, Motorola Enterprise Mobility offers Service from the Start with Comprehensive Coverage for the FR68 and FR6000. Service from the Start guarantees that, from the day of hardware purchase, customers can be assured that no matter what is damaged - from broken displays and keypads to any internal and external components - the repair is covered while the plan is active. This enhanced level of coverage significantly reduces unforeseen repair expenses, while providing investment protection and service peace of mind.

The keypad and the Microsoft WM 6.1 operating system on both devices is available in simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English.

Entry level pricing for the FR68 is AU$2,413.84, while pricing for the FR6000 starts at AU$2,842.84. Both mobile computers are now available in Australia and New Zealand through local Motorola PartnerSelect members.
