Rand develops new DC in Queensland, Victoria

Rand Transport, a division of Automotive Holdings Group Limited, has committed to significant growth on Australia’s eastern seaboard with commitments to two major new facilities in Queensland and Victoria.
 
Rand has entered into long-term leases for new purpose-built facilities at Derrimut, Victoria and Parkinson, Queensland with Mimivic Group.
 
The Derrimut facility will be situated on a 3.4 hectare site in close proximity to Rand’s existing facility. The new facility will have a 16,500 pallet capacity bringing Rand’s total pallet capacity in Victoria to 19,500.
 
The Parkinson property will be situated on a 2.64 hectare site and will have a 12,000 pallet capacity.
 
Both facilities offer additional space for future expansion.
 
Construction has commenced on the Derrimut facility and completion of both facilities is scheduled for September 2010, ready in time for the peak season leading up to Christmas 2010.
 
AHG managing director Bronte Howson said Rand’s expansion was driven by growing customer demand that had pushed existing facilities to capacity.
 
“Our customers have indicated strong interest in taking the additional space and we are confident of a strong ramp up of capacity,” said Mr Howson.
