Specialist 'outback' road-train trailer

Truck trailer manufacturing company Freighter has introduced a new trailer designed to be used on unsealed, poor quality outback roads.

Freighter’s Outback has been designed and built to withstand the worst that Australian roads can throw at it. The design incorporates a number of features over and above a standard Freighter trailer.

Available in a range of Freighter models, including flat top semi, drop deck semi, drop deck skel and in the preferred specification of the user, every Freighter Outback frame is designed for 100% off road use and in most cases, has a frame rating of up to 44 tonnes on semi-trailers.

Freighter Outback includes a number of key features:
  • Massive main rails coupled with more cross-members that give Outback trailers their core strength.
  • Heavy-duty coaming rails that are 25% deeper than standard rails.
  • Reinforced floor with optional heavy duty load tie down points recessed into the floor.
  • Freighter’s VE50 heavy-duty spring suspension designed specifically for outback road conditions (optional).
  • Heavy duty toolbox locks and tyre carrier designed to withstand the rigours of off-road use.
  • Road train-rated wiring and landing legs that feature aluminium chequer-plate facing for long-lasting protection.
