The DS9808 digital imager offers a very convenient hybrid form factor by marrying a solid base with advanced handheld ergonomics, creating a scanner that is truly designed to deliver superior comfort and ease of use in both handheld and hands-free scanning modes. It employs technology that can read virtually all bar-codes (including 1D, 2D, PDF 417, GS1 Databar, QR Code, and Micro QR Code). It also has the ability to capture pictures and signatures.

The DS9808 hybrid scanner is specifically designed to improve productivity in a variety of ways. It is optimised to be used in both hands-free mode for rapid scanning of multiple items, and in handheld mode its scanning range is up to 26.7 cm for the standard range (SR) model and as far away as 45.7cm for the long range (LR) model. It offers swipe speeds programmable up to 2.54m per second, one of the fastest for any scanner in its class. Other features include the ability to deactivate EAS tags and capture images and signatures. In addition, its unique hybrid design is ideal for scanning bulky or heavy items and also suitable for space constrained checkout stands as it requires very small footprint. It comes with an extra loud beeper which verifies a successful scan that can be heard even in the busiest and noisiest store environment.

To further safeguard customers’ investment and to maximise its reliability, the DS9808 has been designed to withstand multiple drops to concrete of up to 5 ft. DS9808 can record swipe speeds for 1D and 2D bar codes and the device supports business-critical retail applications such as auto-population of forms, returns monitoring and age verification and other application possibilities, including built-in support for the applications of tomorrow.
