Emirates SkyCargo appoints new manager for WA

Emirates Airline has appointed Marc Shedden as its new cargo manager for Western Australia, bringing almost 15 years’ experience in the cargo and freight forwarding industries to the role.

In his new position, Mr Shedden will oversee the daily operations and administration of Emirates SkyCargo services at Perth International Airport, as well as two daily passenger services operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

“I am relishing the challenges of this new role and responsibility. Perth is an important freight forwarding destination in Australia, with exports ranging from perishables to supporting logistics requirements for the resources and mining industry. I look forward to meeting the needs of these industries and others, as well as seeking out potential new business opportunities in Western Australia,” said Mr Shedden.

Mr Shedden joined Emirates almost 10 years ago as a cargo supervisor, and was the first staff member employed in the Perth cargo office. He oversaw the set-up of this operation in 2002, when Emirates first began services to Western Australia.

Previous to his work with Emirates, Mr Shedden was employed with Qantas and a freight forwarding firm, bringing a range of experience to his new role.

Emirates currently operates 70 flights per week to Dubai from Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, and 28 weekly trans-Tasman services. The airline’s fleet of 167 wide-bodied aircraft includes eight freighters and is said to be among the youngest in the skies.
