$8 billion naval project

Australian defence shipbuilder ASC is employing advanced supply chain software to streamline operations and ensure compliance for an $8 billion defence project.

Optimisation company Cincom has signed an agreement with ASC, a company acting on behalf of the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance, to provide its enterprise compliance and quality management software.

ASC is Australia’s largest defence shipbuilding organisation, and as part of the AWD Alliance, it is in charge of the $8 billion Hobart Class air warfare destroyer project to be delivered to the Royal Australian Navy.

The alliance comprises the Defence Materiel Organisation, ASC as shipbuilder and Raytheon Australia as combat systems engineer.

The implementation of Cincom’s program is expected to help ASC meet configuration and data management requirements in its role as shipbuilder for the AWD project, providing support for compliance, corrective and preventive actions, as well as internal and external audit programs.

The program will also provide a workflow engine to streamline a number of ASC’s shipbuilding processes and the scalability to cater for the expected growth of its staff levels when full production is reached.

Using the software tool, ASC expects to be able to better manage internal training requirements and certification of contract and suppliers for its staff working on the AWD project.

Cincom ANZ managing director Paul Hargreaves said: “We are committed to providing a high-value, low-cost solution to the AWD Alliance through ASC to improve its business and ensure it is in the best position to offer value for the money for its customers.

“Our relationship with ASC reflects Cincom’s dedication to providing world-class solution for organisations within the defence industry.”

Designed for manufacturers, Cincom’s software delivers a fully-integrated suite of programs that resolve issues quickly and prevent recurrence, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.

The company’s previous customers include Thales Australia, GKN Aerospace, Mills Display Signs, Designer Doorware, Manly Aluminium Windows, Evic Paints, and Campbell Scientific Australia.
