This year for the fourth time, MHD magazine in conjunction with Transport and Logistics News (www.TandLnews.com.au) is conducting Australia’s most comprehensive forklift survey. The results have helped major suppliers such as Crown Equipment, Toyota Material Handling Australia, and Century Yuasa Batteries, to better gauge the needs and wants of Australia’s forklift users.

We are running the forklift survey again in 2016, and it is open now. Simply click on the forklift survey to participate.

Tough year in a tough market

“The year has presented challenges for everybody in the industry, including Crown Equipment,” Crown Australia managing director Greg Simmonds said. “But as we are celebrating our 50th anniversary in Australia, the service support we have provided over the last 50 years and the quality of our products have helped to generate an exceptionally large amount of repeat business.”

Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) executive vice president & COO Steve Takacs also acknowledged the ever-increasing importance of service delivery for success.

“The aim of TMHA is to always exceed the expectations of our valued customers,” he said. “Customer satisfaction in this past year (2015) has been highlighted by the record number of new equipment sales and rental rollovers to existing clients. This is both a reflection of customer confidence and the high quality and skill set of all TMHA staff. TMHA currently enjoys both record market share and a strong, financially stable business model.”

Matt Houghton from Century Yuasa Motive Power Australia commented that the materials handling market had experienced soft market conditions last year that had constrained demand, and the weaker Australian dollar had increased costs of some products, delaying investment by some companies.

“However, I am confident that some parts of the market will start to expand in the coming year, as progressive companies invest in their business to obtain greater efficiencies and effectiveness of operations,” Mr Houghton said.
